What is Surgical Boot Camp and who is it for?
Imagine the woman who has had children and is done, works out several times a week and is at or very near her ideal weight. And even though she is in great shape, she now finds herself with some left-over changes in her body that seem to never improve. Her breasts may have drooped a bit, her tummy stretched out, and maybe has just a few extra “bumps” on her outer thighs…. Because she reluctantly wears a bikini, may find herself feeling a little shy around her partner and would love to wear more form fitted clothing; and being in good shape and near her ideal weight, she now feels really ready to consider cosmetic surgery. These are the women we see every week in our practice that are perfect candidates for that combination of procedures that we commonly call the “Mommy Makeover”.
But now imagine another woman. She too may be done having children and would love to fit and feel better in her clothing. She may or may not work out as well but she finds herself in a very different place than the woman above. The only difference is that this woman is a ways off from her goal weight, by maybe as much as 30-40 lb. and would love to have a surgical transformation, but is really unsure of how to go about it..Does she lose weight first and how much? How good of shape does she need to be in before surgery? How would she even go about finding the right nutrition and exercise program to get her toward her goal of not just having surgery, but of having the body she has dreamed about for years! Where does she start?
This is what Surgical Boot Camp does. It is a holistic program that includes evaluation and assessment, planning desired outcome, goal setting, nutritional guidance, and establishment of an exercise regimen, all with the aim of not only completing the surgery, but setting a physical and lifestyle change that lasts for years to come…

Andrea Piraino, Certified Health Coach
Andrea has had an interest in nutrition all of her adult life, but it wasn't until her husband and father were diagnosed with life threatening illnesses at the same time, that her interest in "preventative nutrition" peaked. Spending months and years in hospitals with doctors, Andrea realized there was a missing link in the medical field: wellness and nutrition. There was little to no conversation about how to prevent illness and disease, only converstion about which medication could be taken to temporarily relieve the problem.
Andrea received her training as a health coach from the Institute of Integrative Medicine. She has been trained in over 100 different dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods with some of the world's top health and wellness experts.
Her teachers included:
Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine
Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine
Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University's Prevention Research Center
Dr. Walter Willet, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University
Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating Before Surgery Bootcamp
Her education has equipped her with extensive knowldege in holistic nutrition, health coaching, preventative nutrition and gut health. Drawing on this knowledge, she will help you create a completely personalized "Roadmap to Health" that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences and goals.
