Whether you've noticed some drooping due to pregnancy, age, or weight loss, a mastopexy can restore the firmness, shape, and position of your breasts so you can fully enjoy your curves.

At his Scottsdale, Arizona practice, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John Corey has helped countless women refresh their appearance with breast lifts. This standard procedure does come with some downtime, but these tips can help your recovery go smoothly.

1. Follow Your Surgeon’s Post-Operative Instructions

The most important step for a better breast lift recovery is to follow your provider’s post-op instructions. Before and after your procedure, Dr. Corey will give you a comprehensive list of recovery recommendations as well as answer any questions you might have. These tips could include wearing the right compression garments, methods of minimizing surgical scars, medications to avoid, and when to return to certain activities.

2. Take Your Time and Ask For Help After Your Breast Lift

Many of our patients are eager to get back to their busy lives. However, it’s important to schedule enough time off from work or other obligations after your procedure. You’ll likely need at least a week off of work, but you might need more time if your job involves a lot of movement or lifting.

Additionally, we recommend having a partner, friend, or family member stay with you for the first 48 hours after your procedure. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether it’s a drive home from your appointment or sending someone to grab groceries for you.

3. Incorporate Gentle Movement to Promote Circulation

While you should hold off on vigorous exercise for several weeks, some movement can support the healing process. Dr. Corey can give you more detailed instructions on returning to normal workouts. In the meantime, incorporating daily walking after your breast lift can increase your circulation for a better recovery.
